Putting My Experience
to Work

Dr. Kyzer is a lifelong resident of Walker County.  He grew up in the Tutwiler community and now lives in Parrish, AL.  Dr. Kyzer graduated from T.W. Martin High School in 1998 and started his college career at Wallace State Community College.  He then transferred to Athens State University to earn a B.S. Degree in Education. Thomas then earned a masters degree in Finance/Accounting and instructional leadership at The University of Cincinnati.  Dr. Kyzer also earned a doctoral degree in instructional leadership at Walden University.  

 

Dr. Kyzer gives back to his local community and county in many ways.  He volunteers for many local charitable organizations/events and currently serves as a board member for the Parrish Water and Sewer Board.  Dr. Kyzer is passionate about all levels of education in Walker County and the State of Alabama.  Dr. Kyzer believes that ALL students can learn and must be exposed to highly effective instruction and the arts.  Dr. Kyzer possesses the following experiences in Pre-K - 12 public education (Total Years - 20 Years):

-Secondary Classroom Teacher (Dora High School and Parrish High School)- Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc. - 9 Years.

-Assistant Principal (Curry Middle School) - 6 Years.

-Principal (Parrish Elementary/Middle School) - 5 Years.  

​

Dr. Kyzer possesses the following University Level Experiences:

​

-Undergraduate Level Instruction (Athens State University - College of Education) - 11 years

-Graduate Level Instruction (Concordia University - Portland - College of Education) - 5 Years

-Graduate Level Instruction (The University of West Alabama - College of Education) - 8 Years.

​

While serving as a school administrator, Dr. Kyzer has utilized his leadership skills to introduce and sustain positive change at Parrish Elementary/Middle School.  Parrish Elementary/Middle School has improved culturally and academically during Dr. Kyzer's tenure.  The PEMS report card grade has climbed from a 71 (C-) to an 88 (B+).  Percentages in student growth and proficiency has improved tremendously as well.  

​

Dr. Kyzer and his two children, Isabella and Judson, currently reside in Parrish.  Dr. Kyzer is engaged to marry Stephanie Fischer in 2022 and will reside in Jasper, AL.
